Mallorie {Bridal Shoot}

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

So last week I met up with the very talented, and extremely beautiful, Mallorie of GND Photography/The Mad Hattery Boutique, to talk some shop.  I was telling her that I wanted to try and get shots of as many women in white dresses as I could, to help prep for some weddings I have coming up.  The moment Mallorie told me she had a white dress, I was all over it!  She was kind enough to set aside a morning so that I could take the pictures of her.  And I am so happy she did!!  She looked absolutely amazing and you know you have a fun session when you’re laughing the whole time.  I just LOVED it!  Don’t forget to check out all of Mallorie’s incredible work and as always, enjoy :)

Alex’s Birth

Monday, March 26th, 2012

I wish there was some better way to describe how absolutely incredible yesterday was!!  I was asked in the Fall to take pictures of Alex’s birth and I, of course, said yes.  So I get the call and I was giddy with excitement the entire way to the hospital.  Chris, of course, looked amazing; even in labor.   The waiting was the hardest part, but even that was fun!  It was spent talking and laughing the whole time with Chris and Michael.  In fact, Chris didn’t have to push…she was laughing so hard Alex just came out on his own.  Awesome!! I can’t say how honored I feel to have been allowed to capture such a monumental time in all of their lives.  Enjoy :)

The Jackson Family {Newborn}

Saturday, March 24th, 2012

There are moments in a family’s life that are unforgettable and the Jackson family was kind enough to open their home to me so I could share a few of those moments with them.  I have to say that I loved that while I was there, little Max was getting a bath.  It was such an intimate moment for this family and Max really seemed to enjoy it!
I truly love lifestyle newborn sessions because I get to show how beautiful and special this time is in a family’s life.  These moments are ones that I remember with my children and I hold dearest to my heart, as I am sure all mothers feel.  Enjoy :)

The Williams Family

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

I was lucky enough to spend St Patrick’s Day with the most amazing family!  The sun was shinning, there was no need for jackets, and the kids had the best time playing in the park. It was my ideal family photo session as it was really relaxed and natural; and I could capture their true family dynamic. Kathryn and Patrick were the sweetest couple! They still hold hands. I can not tell you how much I love that. I am sure their love for one another is what makes their family incredible. Enjoy :)

Can you believe Chris, as stunning as she is, is 38 weeks pregnant with her 4th child?!  Wow, I wish I looked this amazing now, let alone pregnant!! She totally makes being pregnant look good. We had such a great time during her shoot, laughing the whole time; especially after every “Flip your hair!” What can I say, the hair flip is sexy!! haha Enjoy! :)

I can not believe Erik is already 6 months old!! It seems like yesterday his mother was calling me about a maternity shoot and to set up a newborn shoot. Oh this little guy is such a cutie!! He is always so happy! And his mom always has the cutest hats for him and amazing props! Check out the plane! Enjoy :)

Dining For Women

Monday, March 12th, 2012

I have to say I am so excited about Dining For Women! When I was first invited to the potluck, I really looked into DFW; I wanted to make sure it would be an organization that would fit me.  And the more reading I did about it the more I LOVED it.  Women helping women around the world with a potluck, education, and donations. I was so excited about it I asked my friend who was hosting the potluck if I could take pictures and blog them so everyone else could hear about Dining For Women.  And she said, “Yes!” Which is even better.

Every month they have a potluck; you get to eat and talk with other incredible ladies. You learn about the area and charity of the month. Every month they change. This month was Woman’s Earth Alliance, Liberia and Sierra Leone. We watched a video about Woman’s Earth Alliance and what they do for women and how that can and does change her community.

I would love to have women I know go to at least one potluck. I am really doing it no justice; pictures are my thing, not words.  So, let the pictures show how amazing it was. Enjoy :)

I am a Mother

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Most of you know, I am a mother. I have two children. Catherine is my oldest, 5, and George is my baby at 3. They mean the world to me! There is no other way to say it, I love those kids!! I like being a mother. Not every second, but every minute. Motherhood is hard. The pay is horrible, no one says thank you, and I have cleaned things in my life I never thought about cleaning. But there are those moments, when I kiss my babies goodnight, and think, “I would do it all over again.” And I would. I love those babies more than I could ever say or more than they will ever know.

Being a “photographer” is new to me. MPH Photos started last year. Being a business owner and still keeping up with everything else is hard, but I like it. I could even say I love it. MPH has giving me something I have never had. It’s giving me something I work for, that is mine, that I have all control of and I am very proud of.  When someone writes and tells me they love my work and they would love to have it next week, I am like, “Yah!! Lets do it!”  I love my clients! I consider them my family. I love getting to know new people and families. And I would do anything for them.  But it comes at a sacrifice that is for sure. I barely see my husband and my kids. I always try to find a good balance but that is very hard.  Last year I never saw my family. It was awful. I had so much guilt. I was spending so much time working, I never had a moment for them. And the worse part is, they make me a great family photographer and spending time with my husband makes me a great couple photographer. They make me who I am. They make me a better person.

This year, I am trying my best to really be a better boss. I am only doing a limited amount of shoots a month, scheduling weeks or months in advance, only editing and answering emails when everyone is at work or school. I need to find a down time; not just for my family but for me. I want clients to pick MPH Photos not JUST because of the photos but because of who I am. I am great with kids, I am so relaxed, I love to laugh, and I love my life (kids, husband, work and all).

One beautiful Sunday morning, I took my kids to a friends house who was taking care of a baby lamb. The whole way there I thought, “I should be shooting today, it’s beautiful!!” Then I remember I could be shooting, my own family. Here are my kids with a baby lamb. Enjoy :)
